Our Philosophy

St Joseph's Catholic School is a learning community where the unique dignity of each and every person is respected and valued. We strive to be a place of high expectations in learning, spirit and respect.

The School is forward thinking in its philosophy of learning, purposeful in selecting the right staff and creatively utilises open modern learning environments to ensure learning is social, open, engaging and real.

St Joseph's  is committed to delivering on its core business of 'learning' and is thrilled with the achievement gains to date. It is a place that is committed to building the necessary knowledge and competencies for students to thrive and succeed in learning and life.

We have a supportive and active community who fully involve themselves in school life. The staff are open, fun and willing to do what ever it takes to ensure that each learner is challenged and experiences fulfillment in learning.

We believe in developing the whole person and offer a contemporary education that embraces Literacy and Numeracy, Religious Education, Physical Education and The Arts.

Our History

St Joseph's Catholic School was first established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1898 and was built on the site in Stanley Street . The school was opened by Bishop Doyle. The school has gone through many transformations and has been dismantled and rebuilt over the years. The classrooms were refurbished in 2005 with an addition of a new administration block.

In 2012 a new learning block was added. We have come along way since our beginnings in 1898. Now our learning spaces are first class contemporary and flexible environments where students are catered for in creative and engaging ways of learning. So the journey continues...we are very proud of our past and look forward to the future and live every day in the excitement of the present.
